the urban learning environment
the oasis library reflects the surrounding context of pedestrian flow, use of the cherry creek trail, and denver's larimer square, while introducing its own sense of movement within. with an underlying mass-timber structure, the oasis fuses the traditional library program with a more dynamic, urban energy. 

model photograph. the elevator provides an equally visually-stimulating experience as the staircase, rising from creek-level to the top floor.

section perspective. double-height spaces are scattered throughout the building, creating interior views and thresholds from compression to expansion.

site plan. as the creekside trail is ~15 ft. below street level, a ramp and series of outdoor platforms connect the two through a gradual gradient of movement.

interior render. from the top of the main staircase, the various levels can be seen, encouraging movement throughout the library.

floor plan, level 2. private study rooms to the west, with a closed-off children's area to the east. central stairs provide access to level 3.

floor plan, level 3. open-air patio to the west, with seating against the glazing to the north. children's area is partially double-height, and accessible from the L-shaped stair.
